Temasek Polytechnic Wins Team Overall Title At 2009 Rip Curl National Inter Varsity Polytechnic Wakeboard Championships
Temasek Polytechnic wrestled the Team Overall Title away from reigning champions SMU at Rip Curl National Inter Varsity Polytechnic Wakeboard Championships at Kallang Riverside Park held on 27th & 28th June 2009.
70 competitors representing the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU), Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), Temasek Polytechnic (TP), Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) and Republic Polytechnic (RP) were in action on the water, and competing for national individual and team titles.
SMU has been unbeaten in the Team Overall event since 2006. But with Temasek Polytechnic’s team riders winning three gold medals and one silver medal, they helped to bring back the title they last won back in 2005.
Harvey Ong from Temasek Polytechnic and competing in his very competitive event, won the individual Men’s Freeride title edging out seasoned competitors, while Melissa Wong from the National University of Singapore won the Women’s Freeride title for the second year in a row.
