Singapore Management University wins 3rd consecutive team overall title at 2008 Rip Curl National Inter-varsity Polytechnic Wakeboard Champions
The Singapore Management University (SMU) placed ahead of 7 other tertiary institutions to win its third consecutive team overall title in this past weekend’s 2008 Rip Curl National Inter Varsity Polytechnic Wakeboard Championships at Kallang Riverside Park.
85 competitors representing the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU), Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Temasek Polytechnic (TP), Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) and Republic Polytechnic (RP) were in action on the water, and competing for national individual and team titles.
SMU has been unbeaten since 2006, and placed ahead of the Singapore Institute of Management (2nd) and Temasek Polytechnic (3rd). John Chng from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Melissa Wong from the National University of Singapore won the Men’s and Women’s Freeride titles.
Teams from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Temasek Polytechnic competed in the first National Inter Varsity Polytechnic Championships at Sentosa Cove in 2002. Since then, the Rip Curl National Inter Varsity Polytechnic Wakeboard Championships have been held annually at Kallang Riverside Park.
