Official Competition Slalom Rules
General
With the exception of the following rules IWSF rules will be complied with. All competitors are expected to familiar with the relevant IWSF / SWWF rules for the events that they are competing in.
Entry Forms
Entry forms must be submitted before the stipulated closing date. Competitors submitting entry forms or entry fees after the closing date will be charged an additional $10.00 . All skiers are to complete their indemnity forms and pay the entry fee before skiing.
Scoring
The winner for each event will be the competitor with the highest two round total. In the event
of a tie for first place, there shall be a run off. If a tie exist for 2nd or 3rd place, placement shall
be decided on the basis of the higher first round score. In the event that only one round is skied,
the winner will be determined based on the score of one round.
Slalom Starting Speeds
The minimum starting speeds for the various slalom divisions are as follows :-
Men's Novice: any speed w/o gates
Women's Novice: any speed
Women's Intermediate: 22 mph
Men's Intermediate: 24 mph
Women's Advance: 26 mph
Men's Advance: 28 mph
Women's Expert: 30 mph
Men's Expert: 32 mph
Women's Open: 34 mph
Men's 1 (35 years and older): 34 mph
Men's Open: 36 mph
Divisions
Skiers are requested to enter themselves into the respective division as per previous tournament performances. The Singapore Waterski& Wakeboard Federation (SWWF) Slalom Rankings will be used to determine the appropriate division for skiers. Skiers may only participate in the Novice division if they are first time tournament participants or have not made a succesful pass at the minimum starting speed for the intermediate division in a previous tournament. Skiers will be promoted to a higher division if they have successfully completed the minimum speed of that division or if they decide to start at the minimum starting speed of a higher division.
Men's / Women's Novice
Skiers in this category may nominate the speed that they wish to start. The speed will be increased by 2 mph at the end of every successful pass. The rope length for this category is 75 ft, however, skiers can use a 60 ft rope length if they wish to. Skiers in this category do not have to ski through the entry gates, but have to ski out the exit gates.
Mini-Course Slalom
Skiers in this category will have to ski on a 60 foot rope. Skiers will have to ski around the skier turn buoys on the right hand side of the boat wakes (3 turn buoys) and both sets of boat gate buoys on the left hand side of the boat wakes (3 sets of boat gate buoys). The speed will be increased by 2 mph at the end of a successful pass. If the skier completes two perfect passes in the mini-course, he shall perform all subsequent passes in the full slalom course on a 60 foot rope at the minimum starting boat speed which are as follows:
Women 24 mph
Men 26 mph
The speed will be increased by 2 mph at the end of every successful pass. Skiers in this category do not have to ski through the entry gates when negotiating the full slalom course, but have to ski out the exit gates. The minimum starting boat speed for the second round will be raised by two miles an hour. Previous competitors of the mini -course event will be promoted to the novice
slalom division. Skiers participating in the novice slalom event are not permitted to compete in
the mini-course slalom event.
Cancellation of Events
Events with less than 3 competitors may be canceled or merged with other events at the discretion of the organizers. The organizers may also allow the event to continue but prizes may not be presented. |
